In the heart of Utah County, a group of dedicated individuals, affectionately known as the “Teddy Bear Angels,” are sewing threads of comfort and compassion for children who have endured the unimaginable trauma of abuse.
With nimble fingers and hearts full of kindness, these volunteers (of all ages) handcraft teddy bears to provide solace and companionship to young survivors as they navigate the difficult healing journey.
At the Utah County Children’s Justice Center (CJC), each child who walks through the doors finds support and care and a soft, cuddly friend to accompany them on their path to recovery.
The Teddy Bear Angels are the unsung heroes behind the scenes, tirelessly devoting their time and talents to create these special bears for abused children.
With every stitch, they infuse love and hope into each handmade creation, knowing their efforts will bring joy and comfort to those who need it most.
These teddy bears serve as more than just toys; they become symbols of resilience and reassurance for children who have experienced profound trauma.
Whether it’s a gentle hug during a scary moment or a silent confidant in times of distress, these bears offer a sense of security and stability to young survivors as they navigate the complex emotions associated with their experiences.
The Utah County Children’s Justice Center recognizes these teddy bears’ profound impact on the healing journey of abused children.
With each bear given to a child who enters their doors, the CJC delivers a powerful message of support and solidarity, letting them know they are not alone in their struggle.
Rebecca, the director of the CJC, emphasizes the significance of these teddy bears in providing comfort to abused children.
“For many of these children, their teddy bear can provide comfort, security and a sense of companionship, during a time of uncertainty and fear,” she explains. “It’s a true effort helping the child to feel safe and loved, making a world of difference in their healing process.” – Rebecca Martell, CJC Director
